Funded Research Projects

CdTe Crystallization and Related Compounds

Project funded by the European Space Agency (C14240 CCN02 and CCN03)

Project Partners are:

FMF Freiburg,

LCF IOTA Orsay,

IMEM Parma,

Universidad Madrid,

CNRS SIMAP-EPM,

TEIH Chalkida,

MARS Napoli,

University of Victoria,

X-ray Imaging Europe,

Eurorad,AIM, 5N Plus, ALTA s.r.l.,ICMCB

In this phase (CCN03) of the project, TEIH (since June 5, 2013, TEISTE) is developing coded aperture imaging techniques for the localization of gamma ray sources

In the previous phase (CCN02) we modelled with the help of TCAD tools the transient signals of CdTe x/gamma ray detectors.

Hybrid Pixel X-ray Sensor (HYBRIDX)

Project co-funded by the European Union (Social Fund) and Greek national resources under theframework of the "Archimedes III: Funding of Research Groups in TEI of Sterea Ellada" project of the "Education & Lifelong Learning" Operational Programme

We aim to evaluate circuit topologies which will increase the dynamic range (beyond 100 db) of CMOS pixel electronics working in charge integration mode for the processing of X-ray pixel sensor signals.

Greece - Ukraine bilateral cooperation A portable instrument for X and Gamma radiation measurement

Project funded by the Greek General Secretariat of Research and Technology

Partners: TEI of Chalkida and V.E. Lashkaryov Institute of Semiconductor Physics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

In the context of the project CdTe p-n diode detectors were developed, characterized and a small spectroscopy system was constructed

Proof of Concept of a Hybrid APS with per pixel A/D Conversion

Project funded by the European Space Agency (C21213/NL/PA)

Contractor: TEI of Chalkida

Sub-contractor: NCSR Demokritos

In the context of the project it was developed a 64 pixels CMOS ASIC which can record the energy and time of interaction of every gamma ray converted within the detecting layer of a hybrid pixel sensor. The energy and time are digitized in the pixel

Cooperation across Europe for Cd(Zn)Te based Security Instruments (COCAE):

Project funded by FP7 (FP7-SEC218000)coordinated by TEIH

Project partners were:

TEI of Chalkida (Coordinator)

Greek Atomic Energy Commission

Institute of Nuclear Physics, National Center for Scientific Research Demokritos

Oy Ajat Ltd, Finland

Freiburger Materialforschungszentrum, Albert Ludwigs Universität,Germany

Universidad Autonoma de Madrid Departemento de Fisica de Materiales, Spain

Riga Technical University, Latvia

V.E. Lashkaryov Institute of Semiconductor Physics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

Chernivtsi Yuri Fedkovych National University, Ukraine

Vision Integration Laboratory, Research Institute of Electronics, Shizuoka University, Japan

The project developed the core technologies for the construction of a Compton Imaging Camera using hybrid pixel detectors (pixel Cd(Zn)Te crystals and CMOS VLSI electronics flip chip bonded). The camera's purpose is to be used for the localization and the identification of radioactive sources

Electronics for digital X-ray imaging with semiconductor sensors.

Project funded by the Ministry of Education in the context of EPEAEK.

Pixel level A/D conversion and charge integration cicuit topologies were designed and measured
